i love you michel, from nadine
A Rehearsed Reading
Paris. 1986.
A helicopter fly’s low over the city, circling the roof of Prison De La Santé, Paris’s most renowned maximum-security prison. It hovers low, throwing a rope from its open window, falling straight into the hands of convict Michel Vajour, who grips it tight and is air-lifted away into the distance.
On May 26th, 1986, Nadine Vajour piloted a helicopter over Paris to break out her husband from prison, executing one of the only successful helicopter prison escapes to date.
Based on a true story, ‘I love you Michel, from Nadine’ follows the life of 19-year-old jazz singer Nadine as she falls in love with outlaw Michel Vajour. Marrying into a life of crime, Nadine finds herself slipping comfortably into her new role, but when a botched bank heist finds Michel locked away, Nadine is pushed to unimaginable lengths to help him escape, quickly learning what it takes to be the best at being bad. Yet, when an estranged visit from her forgotten past confronts her, the world she built around her begins to crack and threatens to unravel everything she’s fought to protect.
