Haunted Shadows Title

Haunted Shadows

Edith Nesbit revisits the darkness of her own past by telling two Gothic tales. Better known for her children's books, she was also a prolific writer of ghost and horror stories. The Shadow and a rediscovered tale, A Strange Experience, are dramatized in this chilling one-woman show.

Performed and adapted by Claire Louise Amias. Directed by Jonathan Rigby.

Praise for Claire Louise Amias’ previous one-woman show, The Masks of Aphra Behn:

Once a Week Theatre

‘Amias gets to show off her acting skills superbly and does justice to a fascinating figure.’

Everything Theatre

★★★★ ‘Claire Louise Amias gives a fabulous performance.’

Lost in Theatreland

★★★★ ‘Claire Louise Amias brings this wonderfully edgy woman to life with brilliant wit and charm. She connects immediately with the audience verbally and with almost piercing looks that demand full attention. I found myself following every word and admiring the easiness with which Amias switches between characters.’

London Theatre 1

★★★★ ‘An excellent one-woman show… highly recommended, very entertaining.’

Remote Goat

★★★★ ‘Thoroughly entertaining... faultless.’

Director Jonathan Rigby is the author of the acclaimed horror film histories English Gothic, American Gothic and Euro Gothic. As an actor, he appeared opposite Claire in the feature film Borley Rectory, playing psychic investigator Harry Price.
