Blue Hour is a dark comedy set in a futuristic self-help retreat. Fixated on the values of routine, focus and self discipline, the play is launched into action with the arrival of Road Retreat’s newest guest, Vicky, who must weigh up whether she is willing to do what it takes to ‘get with the programme.’

This play is an exploration of the contradictory and absurd practices promoted by the self-help industry. An industry which prioritises productivity above all else. An industry that depends solely on us feeling as though there is something fundamentally wrong with us in order to thrive.

What happens when we reject the tormented desire to self-improve in the name of productivity, and how do we teach one another that sometimes, it’s ok to simply do nothing.
